On May 10th, Singletary will celebrate his 10th birthday. Over the years, he has given us the thrills of a lifetime, both on and off the race track. To celebrate we thought we’d give a quick update on our stallion and his now racing progeny.

First and foremost, Singletary is doing great. He currently resides at Harris Farms, one of California’s most prominent horse farms and as you can imagine, he is one of the staffs favorite stallions up there.

He is in the middle of his covering his fifth crop. The first foals began running in 2009 and like their dad have seen early success. In the U.S. Singletary’s progeny started 26 times in 2009, winning five times (19%). Cumulatively, through April 19, 2010, the progeny have 43 starts and 8 wins to their credit (18%) in the U.S., including three wins from six starts on turf! Of the 42 now three year olds, 15 have started a race (36%), which is on par with most stallions.

Overall, he has covered over 150 mares during his stud career at fees ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 per cover.

We are and continue to be extremely proud of our stallion and his success. Special thanks to everyone at Harris Farms for supporting and continuing to believe in him. We look forward to welcoming the 2nd crop of foals to the race track in the coming months.

In the spirit of this “close miss” newsletter, Singletary’s son - El Rancho - almost became Singletary’s first stakes winner yesterday. The 2yo gelding led for every step of the ATBA Spring Sales Stakes until the last 100 yards where he was caught on the wire and finished fourth less than a half length from the victory.
